Click photo to play recorded reading I want to give a warning, how your lives can quickly change You may wonder what is coming, and may find this rather strange. Grandchildren are the subject – perhaps you’ve heard of these, They come silently into your lives, then do exactly as they please.
You want to paint your bedroom, so you ask them for advice! You paper it, and paint it – they say “Now it’s my room – very nice!” They bring happiness and sunshine to your life, that’s very sure – But occasionally it’s nice to say “Goodbye” and shut the door.
You travel through the early years, you don’t want to interfere – Your own kids’ do not want advice – you’re from another sphere! Grandchildren show an interest now – “We want to bake a cake”. And this is when, perhaps you’ll find, you’ve made your first mistake.
Out came the ingredients – sugar, eggs, butter and flour – The lovely cake is quickly made, and cool within the hour. The cake bowl seems to vanish - you’ve completely lost control – “What’s good about cake making, Gran, is licking out the bowl.”
The cake is iced, the tea is made, the tablecloth is spread, You thought that you’d enjoy your cake – but they’ve eaten it instead! There’s a moral to my story, for all you would-be grans – Grandchildren soon take over with their own inventive plans.
