                His mother called him Brian,

His dad just called him ‘runt’.

                His brothers quickly learned to roar;

                   While Brian could only grunt.

                “Now listen dear” said mother.

“You must copy what I do.”

“For if you never learn to roar,

They’ll put you in a zoo.”

Poor Brian tried and tried again

But roar he just could not.

                His father got frustrated –

                  And said “You stupid clot.”

                “But how will you communicate?”

                  Said his mother in despair.

                “Lions speak by roaring,

While grunts are just for bears.”

They took poor Brian to the vet

“Let’s see what he can do!.”

He said: “The best thing for this lion

Is to send him to a zoo.”

They sent him off to London Zoo

Where no-one said “Please roar” –

While his brothers have to hunt for food

                  Brian just gently snores.

                                                 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
