When the end of the road seems far from sight

And the day that was sunny has turned to night

When your cheerful spirit is worn and frayed

And perhaps, inside, you feel quite afraid.

Don’t give up, though the going’s tough –

Stick to your course, though the road be rough.

When those whom you loved have betrayed your trust -

When your spirits have drowned and the world’s unjust.

Life’s a bit of a brute – you feel quite bruised inside –

With a heart that is aching and such wounded pride.

Don’t give up, though the going’s tough

Stick to your course, though the road be rough.

My advice is: look outwards to those worse off than you,

And you’ll discover quite quickly there are more than a few.

Get rid of your grievances - put a smile on your face.

Then just give the best of yourself to the human race.
