As I write mainly for children, would you please think of general things which I may have omitted to say about what GRANDPARENTS ARE - - - such as: the ones who can encourage young people to make lots of mess in their homes, knowing well that they don't have to clean it up. They're expected to forget things because their brains are old and rusted. They are the ones who don't have to worry too much about wrinkles because they are regarded as love lines; who don't really have to behave themselves because everyone forgives you when you are old, senile and a bit eccentric. They are people who are confidants between parents and children. What else are they?
Smiling faces, lots of treats Loving hugs and sometimes sweets. Wrinkled skins but young inside – Trusted friends who’re on your side.
They’re folks who have more time for me – The ones who make the cakes for tea. Those who mend our broken toys – But sometimes say: "Now, much less noise."
Despite the fact they have white hair, Grandparents are the ones who care. They’re people with the hearts of gold – The ones you love to hug and hold.
