Granddad bought a toupee, to hide his balding spot –

It was fine in winter weather, but in summer it was hot.

It caused his head to itch a lot – it drove him nearly mad –

He’d not take it off in public, which was really very sad.

Granddad’s temper then got nasty. He’d shout at everyone.

He looked overwrought and fretful and didn’t have much fun.

As soon as he returned back home, he’d remove it from his head.

“My life is good without this thing” is what the poor man said.

He sat out in his garden, for his work was all complete.

He had a yawn, and shut his eyes and quickly fell asleep.

His head dropped forward on his chest, the toupee did as well –

Then Mac, his terrier dog, arrived and found a funny smell.

He made straight for Granddad’s toupee for he thought it was a rat –

“I’ll not have rats at this house. I’ll soon dispose of that.”

He quickly snatched the toupee which he shook with all his might.

Now our Granddad’s feeling happier for there’s not an itch in sight.
