          Colour me green like the sweet smelling grass;

             As green as the life-giving trees.

          Colour me green like a cabbage or sprout,

             Or the willows that blow in the breeze.

          Colour me green like the forests and woods;

             Green like the banks of the streams.

          Bring me alive in the natural world -

             At one with the natural scene.

          Green makes you think of stillness and peace

            It’s a blend of true yellows and blues

          Green brings to everyone healing and rest

             And is so calming for me and for you.

          The Language of Green

          Good green

            Green is associated with safety. (eg traffic lights)

            To give someone “the green light” = to give them the go ahead.

            The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence: You say it when someone thinks that things are better elsewhere, but this may not necessarily be the case.

            Greener pastures: “He has gone on to greener pastures” = He has gone on to better things in life.

            To have green fingers or a green thumb = To be good with plants.

            To go green = to become environmentally friendly.

          Bad green

            The green-eyed monster is the name we give to someone who is jealous.

            We also say “green with envy”.

            Someone who is “green” is someone who is ignorant of particular facts., inexperienced, untrained.

            Green around the gills – pale and sickly.

            A greenhorn is a trainee, beginner or a novice.

          Green is the colour of nature. It symbolises growth, harmony,

          freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.

          Green has great healing power. It is the most restful colour for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the colour of free passage in road traffic.

          Use green to indicate safety when advertising drugs and medical products. Green is directly related to nature, so you can use it to promote 'green' products. Dull, darker green is commonly associated with money, the financial world, banking, and Wall Street.

          Currently the most popular decorating colour, green symbolises nature. It is the easiest colour on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing colour. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolise fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. However, seamstresses often refuse to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad luck.
