I was one out of thirteen that survived it this year.

But tonight I have made it, so send up a cheer.

For weeks upon weeks I have trotted around

Accompanied by mother - both feet on the ground.

                I grew adult plumage – I’m smart I admit.

I’ve strengthened my wings and shown off quite a bit.

Tonight, though was special as I flew over town

And with Mum and with Dad on the river came down.

                What a day of excitement – I surely won’t sleep –

But in the life of a duck it’s one very big leap.
