MOTHERING – NOT SMOTHERING

He arrived in this world with a kick and a shout:

“Come along Baby, it’s time to come out.”

Then, just like a man, he started to scream,

But father looked on, like a cat with the cream.

He’d no hair on his head, so he looked just like his Dad.

Though his eyes seemed to smile, we thought he looked sad.

The continual demands – we women know well.

His football socks brought the usual bad smell.

It’s surprising how children just stick to their beds .

You keep them quite happy if you keep them well fed.

He was no exception – he wouldn’t get up.

Food quickly vanished with this greedy young pup.

When later in life he then looked for a wife –

Someone like Mum, who’d give him a good life -

Someone to love him and meekly obey –

He quickly discovered the girls looked away.

They wanted their husbands to help in the house –

Good looking, but also a handyman spouse.

For you mothers who want to pass sons to a wife –

Don’t spoil them with “love” – or you’ll have them for life.
