Josie Whitehead’s Poems
By Josie Whitehead If I ever have a nightmare, it is always of one of two things: The first is that I have guests arriving for a meal, and I am in the kitchen in such a mess and unable to cope. (Never happened). The second dream is of a college corridor, and I have been asked to take a class but cannot remember the number on the door or where the classroom is, and I know that my students are waiting for me somewhere. This has never happened either. Dreams is the theme of National Poetry Day – 4 October 2007. Sarojini Naidu wrote "Song of a Dream" and I have followed her style just a little, which I liked with my poem which is quite different. It is a good exercise to do this, but let your own style shine through too.

And spirits of fear hover overhead As I toss and turn fitfully in my bed. Locked In that magical world of sleep Is a cupboard where all my fears I keep.
