This is the story of Nicholas Rabbit –
But I’m afraid that it’s terribly short -
For Nicholas was put in the local pet shop
And with others was very soon bought.
Two boys entered the shop to look for a pet
With soft fur, floppy ears and bright eyes.
Nicholas Rabbit went home with the boys
And thought “Oh! What a lovely surprise!”
There was a beautiful hutch, a warm little bed,
And a guinea pig called Jack as his friend.
Nicholas Rabbit lived such a wonderful life
From that very first day to the end!
