So, what would you do if you didn’t have a nose?

If you couldn’t distinguish a peach from a rose?

When smells like fresh coffee or strawberries and cream –

Don’t smell any different from chocolate ice-cream?

Your nose sends out signals when danger’s about.

If you smelt something burning you might want to shout.

If you opened the ‘fridge and a bad smell hits your nose –

You’d think “Something’s gone bad” – well I would suppose.

Our bodies need oxygen for us to stay well –

So, our noses inhale this as well as the smells.

Under water our noses can’t take in the air –

So if you play in the river or sea, do beware.

Your smell and your taste work together so well –

If you’ve a cold you can’t taste, and you also can’t smell.

Noses link to the brain – you learn sweet smells and sour –

The strong smell of vinegar and the sweet smell of flowers.

A dog’s sense of smell is much stronger than ours,

So dogs work well with humans because of these powers.

Human noses all vary in both size and design.

Are you glad you have yours? Yes, I’m glad I have mine.
