                The old year makes his exit now –

                  As the curtain gently falls.

                Goodbye to scenes of mirth and joy

                  To worries, large and small.

                He walked this earthly path with us

                  Through seasons of the year.

                Sharing our days of happiness

                  And those which brought us tears.

                Welcomed in with church bells

                  And fireworks in the sky.

                He saw the birth of babies;

                  Stood by the ones who died.

                He beheld the spring in blossom

                  Enjoyed long summer days.

                He painted autumn colours

                  Also cloudy days of grey.

                He knew our hopes, our sorrows,

                  But now he must depart –

                For the year has gone full circle –

                  And a new year soon will start.
