The Wildlife Just Outside Our Backdoor

I was photographing a pair of Manderin ducks who turned up with the usual gang of Mallards and

Moorhens outside our backdoor and it occurred to me that we have a great deal of wildlife around us.

The following is a group of pictures we have taken of some of the various birds etc. we have visit us.

Apart from the wildlife photographed we do see birds such as Blue Tit (one of which seems to like spending the night in our garage), Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Crows, Jackdaws, Robin, Wren, Thrush, Blackbird, Starling, Wood Pigeon, Dove, Hedge Sparrow, Tawny Owl, Great Tit and Magpie. 

On one occasion we heard a thump on our lounge window, looked out and just under the window was a Kestrel with a Wood Pigeon in it’s talons. We shooed the Kestrel off and after half an hour the pigeon recovered and flew off. 

Field Mice are sometimes seen in our garden, they particularly enjoy Christmas Rose seeds and Honeysuckle berries.
