          IT’S RAINING CATS AND DOGS

          By Josie Whitehead www.whiteheadm.co.uk

Look! It’s raining cats and dogs –

          And it’s even raining frogs.

            There’s puppies and kittens

            They’re all over Britain

So are the toads and the frogs.

          There’s a cow up there in the sky;

And we’re told that pigs might fly.

             Mind!  Duck your head

             And watch where you tread

When the pigs are in the sky

Can animals fly in the sky?

Yes, one animal really can fly

            For a bat’s not a bird

            But a reindeer? Absurd!

          Most animals really don’t try.

          Questions for you

Where did the saying “It’s raining cats and dogs” originate?

What does “Pigs might fly” actually mean? http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/p.html

Is there another English expression about pigs?

Is a bat really a mammal or is it a bird? http://www.fi.edu/wright/again/wings.avkids.com/wings.avkids.com/Book/Animals/advanced/bats-01.html
