Shhh, SILENTLY THEY FALL

                silentlysilentlysilently

                The world’s fast asleep – not the tiniest sound –

                A miracle’s happening between sky and ground.

                  Snow spirals and circles down from the sky

                  Dancing and twirling from far, far on high.

                Snowflakes play games as they peacefully fall –

                First one, then another, some large and some small.

                  Tossing and turning and blown on the breeze,

                  They settle on rooftops and nestle on trees.

                Thousands and thousands of magical shapes;

                 The most beautifully crafted tiny snowflakes.

                   Over fields, over cities spreads a carpet of white –

                   Oblivious and indifferent to our problems tonight.
