                The train clattered to Leeds

                  Then one question I heard

                It came from behind

                  Just five little words:

With the noise of the train

                  I’ll not know the reply.

I’m left now to guess –

So do help me to try.

“So, What was the best part?”

                   Yes, I’m dying to know.

Was it her day on the beach

Or her trek in the snow?

Was it the the soft chewy centre –

Or the colour of his hair?

Was it when school had finished

Or the new things she’ll wear?

So, What was the best part?

                  The beginning or the end?

When she blew out the candles

Or when she met a new friend?

I’ll never know her answer –

She’s just left me to guess –

It will be a mystery forever

                  I have to confess.
