You see them on the underground,

You view them on the street,

You watch them in the office

And observe the ones you meet.

You spot them in the supermarket,

In the church or at the bank.

They’re even at the filling station

                   Filling up their tank.

                You scrutinise their clothing,

Think: “Are they young or old?”

You listen to their accents –

And take in what you behold.

But, being human, as we are

Just what do think we do?

                We put them into categories

Just like animals in a zoo.

We do not even know them,

Yet we class them into “type”.

Our minds give them a label.

Do you think that this is right?

                Humans pass their judgement

By what they think and see,

But, beware of judging others –

For they’re judging you and me.
