Have you met a poet recently?

They can visit you at school.

Perhaps they’ve walked in on two feet

But a Skype visit’s rather cool.

Perhaps you asked a question like:

“What things do you like most?”

You might be quite surprised to hear

I like eating words on toast.

Have you ever thought of eating words?

                  They come in different forms.

You can eat the cold or slippery words

                  Whilst others make you warm.

Poach your words or scramble them

Or put them through the blender.

Mix them up with other words

To make them sweet and tender.

Juggle them inside your mind –

Then toss them in the air.

Write them on your paper then

                  With lots of loving care.

You see, we poets are just crazy –

So be careful what you say.

I’m off to catch my latest word

So I’ll see you another day.
